What we offer

Here at Face 2 Face, volunteer counsellors collaborate with their clients for hundreds of sessions per year. In 2015, Face 2 Face held 1616 client sessions.

We hope our self referral and subsidised system allows low income clients to access counselling confidentially without the worries associated with finances.

Mirroring the privileges of private counselling, our clients access open ended therapy, choosing to end the process when they’re happy and ready to do so.

Based on 2011 rates from the National Institute for Health & Care, the estimated cost of therapy was £1125 per 15 sessions, which means each session cost the NHS £75.

How we differ

Here at Face 2 Face we ask instead that our clients contribute between £5 and £16 per session to help us cover overheads of utilities, equipment, provisions, and counsellor supervision.

Historically, our further training programme for volunteer counsellors, which is an essential part of BACP membership and ethical framework, has relied solely on grant applications and fund raising events.

As a charity, none of our staff are paid and we rely on kind donations to help us with any deficits we may accrue due to equipment failures, upkeep of premises, and increases in utilities.

Our Hopes

Responsibilities such as handling client inquiries, booking sessions, submitting accounts and analysing statistics, assessing feedback, cleaning and tidying, buying and stocking provisions, fundraising, sourcing and organizing training, updating insurance and DBS checks for all members, designing and updating the physical infrastructure of the service plus all of the documentation, policies and guidelines, are divided between our volunteer counsellors.

As our service provision has extended greatly during recent years, we’re increasingly aware that a paid administrator/coordinator would be a wonderful asset and are saving a fund accordingly so that our counsellors may be free to dedicate their time solely to client work, allowing more clients to be seen.
